Reiki is a Japanese technique that aids in stress relief and promotes your body's natural healing.
Ki, or life energy, flows within your physical body through pathways. These pathways lead to the organs and tissues of the body, chakras, meridians, nadis, and your aura. When we have a healthy flow of Ki, that is what causes well-being. Ki animates the physical organs and tissues of the body, nourishing and balancing the function of your systems. Reiki energy is a special kind of Ki. It is life force energy that is guided by spiritual consciousness, and is defined as spiritually guided life energy. Reiki will 'jump start' your energetic battery leaving you feeling calm, balanced, and refreshed.
Reiki is a spiritual practice and energy, however, it is not associated with any religion.
What Does Reiki Mean; Rei-ki
Rei = spiritual wisdom
Rei generally means “universal” or “everywhere.” Meaning spiritual wisdom can encompass and inhabit all.
Ki = life energy
Ki is the same as “chi” in Chinese, “prana” in Sanskrit, and “ti” or “ki” in Hawaiian. It means life energy—the energy that is non-physical and is present in all living things. When your Ki is low, you are more vulnerable to illness or dis-ease. When it is high and flowing freely, you live a much more happy aligned life.
The History of Reiki
The exact history of energy healing and reiki is a bit of a mystery. This partly because written records are scarce the farther you go back, and what was written was usually biased depending on what type of energy healing was being discussed and advocated for. What we do know is that energy healing and reiki, in particular, has likely been used for thousands of years. It is an ancient technique that has evolved alongside humans.
The developer of Usui reiki as we know it today was Mikao Usui (also known as Usui Sensei) in 1922, but it’s important to note that there were other reiki healing styles in use at this time as well. After Mikao Usui's enlightenment he started a healing society and reiki clinic in Japan where he provided healing, developed the first three reiki symbols, and taught more than 2,000 students how to channel reiki energy. Holy Fire® Reiki
Holy Fire® reiki is a newer evolution of reiki and is most often compared to Usui reiki, also developed by William Lee Rand, the founder of the Center for Reiki Research and President of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) and the Reiki Membership Association.
Usui is a reiki that is dependent on the the spiritual work and awareness that the teacher/practitioner has done on themselves. Someone who is attuned to Usui reiki does more of the “work” rather than channeling it—and they can get more easily fatigued when administering reiki.
In Holy Fire® reiki the teacher/practitioner is the channel of the energy—they are the bridge. They are able to transfer Holy Fire® energy directly from spiritual consciousness to the client without it being dependent on their own journey or experiences. It’s essentially more stronger and pure. Because it is a channeled healing, the practitioner's energies are not part of the session and are never depleted.
Reiki Healers, Practitioners, and Reiki Masters
Every reiki practitioner or master is different. We all have our specialized gifts, niches, and ways of doing things, all the while keeping reiki at its center. With every reiki session you receive, you of course receive reiki energy, but depending on the healer, practitioner, or master you're experience may vary. I can't speak for other reiki healers, but I can speak on how I work as a healer.
Working with Reiki Master Alyssa McDowell
I’m trained and certified in Holy Fire® III reiki. Which means that reiki comes directly from source consciousness, undiluted or transmuted based on my experiences or knowledge. There are other branches of reiki (such as Usui) that are dependent on the healers own individual growth, experience, and knowledge. With Holy Fire® III that is not the case. I’m just the facilitator, the server, the bridge that brings that delicious divine energy to you.
My training is extensive: In 2020 I was certified in Holy Fire® III level 1 (for self-healing) and level 2 (for healing others). In 2021 I was certified in Holy Fire® III level 3 (master level, more powerful energy, and I gained the ability to teach). Then in 2022 I was certified in Holy Fire® III Karuna® reiki (an advanced level of reiki).
One of my gifts is empowering you to get out of your own way. Helping you see what learned behaviors, patterns, and thoughts are not working for you—and showing you how to shift the energy through reiki and the channeled guidance that comes through.
When you receive reiki from me, I am in a constant state of channeling your energy and makeup, your guides, and mine. I provide excellent documentation of EVERYTHING that comes through for you during your session, which includes a 1-3 page PDF of channeled message just for you.
